GAMMA LAMBDA SCHOLARSHIP FUND (CSSF)

Dear Brothers,

Customarily, I send out the solicitation for the annual donations to the Gamma Lambda Chapter Specific Scholarship Fund ("CSSF") in April. Because I solicited for donations to the "Chapter Challenge" in conjunction with the 150th Anniversary Convention of Theta Chi Fraternity, I deferred the CSSF solicitation until now.

I am sorry about "hitting you up for money" with these back to back solicitations, but it is extremely important to keep the fund-raising drive for our CSSF going on an annual basis.

We started our CSSF several years ago. We typically raise around $2,000 per year. We have always plowed the earnings back into principal, as several hundred dollars in scholarship money does not go very far at the University of Denver. We did take the position that when we have accumulated $10,000 in the CSSF, which is an endowed account, (i.e., we never invade the principal), we would authorize the Gamma Lambda Alumni Corporation to begin to accept scholarship applications from our undergraduate brothers and those attending graduate school. (The Alumni Corporation will have to design an application, create the criteria for scholarship eligibility, determine amount(s) of scholarships to be awarded, etc. Since we have a brand new web-site, I suspect this process will be for public view, other than the applications, and the identities of the scholarship recipient(s) will be posted.)

Brothers, I am delighted to report that as of the end of the first quarter 2006, (3/31/06) the balance in our CSSF account is $9,174.49. Accordingly, following this solicitation, assuming we stay true to form, we should easily pass the $10,000 principal mark enabling us to begin to award scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded solely from earnings on the principal balance. I intend to keep soliciting annually for the CSSF, so that we can make more sums available for scholarships from the earnings, as we move into the future.

Accordingly, we should have approximately $500 available for scholarships for the Fall 2006 quarter/semester, but most definitely for the Winter 2007 quarter/semester. Again, this will not make a big dent in DU tuition, but the money can be applied to purchasing text books, providing some relief to our undergraduate and graduate school brothers and, most of all, their parents.

Suggested contribution to the CSSF is $100.00. Checks in greater or lesser sums are gratefully received as well. We could not have built the CSSF account up to this level without are doing it together. I, for one, am proud to be working in this fashion with my Gamma Lambda Chapter Brothers to extend a financial "Helping Hand" to our deserving undergraduate brothers and those attending graduate school.

If you will participate again this year, please make your tax-deductible check payable to "Foundation Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, Inc." and in the Memo section: "Gamma Lambda CSSF." Please send the checks to me at the address below. I will collect them and forward them to the IHQ as a sufficient number of checks are accumulated.

If you could get the checks to me before June 30, 2006, it will be much appreciated, as that way your contribution will be recognized in this fiscal year for the Fraternity.

Thank you Brothers. This cannot be done with out you.
Fraternally, JJ
